Ban Pit Bulls Statewide!? No.

This is in response to this post I saw on Nashville is Talking.

Basically some senator wants to pass a law that will ban the ownership of pitbulls in the state of Tennessee. There is no way this will pass.

A pit bull isn’t worse than any other breed of dog. It depends on how they are raised. People have a fear of pit bulls because they are the preferred breed of dog used in dog fighting. (Which makes me sick, but that’s a whole other post.) If ANY dog is raised to be fierce and mean, it will attack you. If you raise a pit bull to be sweet and kind, it will be a loyal and “good” dog. My brother has a pit bull. She is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. She sleeps in the bed with you, and would just hug you if she could. She’s very very strong, but she’s just a 100 lbs baby. She’s such a sweetheart and I just love her.

It’s not the breed, it’s the person raising them to be vicious dogs that should be banned.

  1. I agree with you, Lizzie. Two friends of mine own a pit bill that is an absolute sweetheart who would not hurt a fly. Conditioning is the key factor.
